Mobility:

1.) The No. 1 Stretch for BJJ

If I had to choose just ONE stretch to give any BJJ player it would be the "couch stretch".

This stretch will address your TIGHT hip flexors. You probably spend a lot of time sitting, driving or playing guard, all of these things will tighten up your hip flexors and restrict your range of motion and effective mobility.

The couch stretch opens up those hips and will do you wonders.

Check out a demo video of how to do the couch stretch here 👇

2.) Dealing with injuries!

1 year ago almost to the day I sprained my ankle… fast forward 12 months and I sprained my ankle again! It was the OTHER ankle this time and it was 100% my fault (lol 😂).

This has caused me to reflect on how to deal with injuries. I made a video about it back then and the advice is still solid:

  • 💥Don’t return to training too early!
  • 💥Use the “down-time” as an opportunity to fix weakness in your jiujitsu game
  • 💥Show up to class where you can and stay connected to the community
  • 💥Put some time in the gym and come back STRONGER (working around your injuries of course)

3.) Want to have your cake and eat it too?

If you have a sweet tooth (like me and Adam) then you better sink your teeth into last weeks episode of the Beyond Jiu Jitsu Podcast where we taste tested a whole bunch of “healthy” snacks for BJJ and I broke down the benefits of each.

4.) Real Life David vs. Goliath BJJ Edition

Jordan Teaches Jiujitsu recently competed again a man who had a +35 lbs weight advantage on him. I won’t spoil the result for those that haven’t seen it but it’s definitely worth checking out here’s the video link.
